About The Studio
K Voice Studio is a Grand Rapids-based music studio for students of all ages, offering voice lessons, music theory lessons, song selection, and audition preparation. Many students join the studio to get help preparing for auditions, performances, solos, and other special events, but some join just to help improve their voice as a hobby, and that is great too! Repertoire covers a variety of styles, from classical and musical theater to jazz and pop.
Students learn in a relaxed and nurturing environment as Kels guides them toward a healthy vocal technique, confidence, and strong musical skills. Prospective students need not have prior training – Kels is experienced in teaching students of all levels and abilities. Their individualized approach ensures that each student develops a strong foundation in vocal technique and shows, with a consistent home practice routine, rapid progress from week to week. Along the way, Kels helps their students develop confidence, poise, and stage presence, encouraging them to be expressive singers and performers.
At K Voice Studio, the focus is on the holistic singer. Your voice is not just the “voice box” and attached muscles. It is your whole body AND the person and emotions who come with it. Kels believes that it is important to foster a personal mentor relationship with each student, and in our lessons we go beyond vocal technique to get at the heart of who you are as an individual. What makes you unique is what makes you a great singer, storyteller, and artist. In the studio, we cultivate these differences and showcase everything that makes you the person that you are.
At K Voice Studio, we strongly advocate that along with developing the voice, one must also develop performance skills. Students are required to have each song memorized and “performance ready” before they can move on to the next one. K Voice Studio doesn’t believe in producing singers who sing beautifully but are the entertainment equivalent of watching paint dry. Each student is encouraged to regularly pursue outside performance opportunities, whether it be a solo at church or school, a musical theater audition, a vocal competition, karaoke, or an open mic night.
